DeWITT JENNINGS. Vintage 8x10 pearl finish silver tone half-length costume portrait, by Freulich, for Little Man, What Now? (1934), boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, "Easter Greetings/to/Al Wood/DeWitt Jennings/1934." Near very fine condition, with tiny corner bumps and an ink brush to one letter of the signature. Character actor DeWitt Jennings appeared in over 150 films during a career which began in 1915 and lasted until his death in 1937. He usually played stern authority figures, such as policemen, prison wardens, or judges, and was seen in such classics as Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933) and Mutiny on the Bounty (1936). Signed photographs are quite rare.
