DANE CLARK. Glossy 1940s 8x10 vintage glossy black and white publicity portrait, boldly signed in later years in black ballpoint ink, "Sincerely/Dane Clark." Very fine condition. The Brooklyn-born actor played tough, scrappy working-class types, rising through the Warner Bros. ranks throughout the 1940s to reach leading man status by the end of the decade, in such memorable films as Deep Valley (1947) and Moonrise (1948). While his career gradually declined from this peak, he would continue to make numberous film and television appearances throughout the ensuing four decades. His nickname, Joe Average, referenced the type of roles that defined much of his career.
