ANNA NEAGLE. Lovely vintage 1940s 8x10 glossy black and white three-quarter length publicity portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, "Tommy/Best wishes/Anna Neagle." A few very faint dings in the right border; otherwise very fine condition. Although she enjoyed little success in her few Hollywood outings, Dame Anna Neagle, under the careful guidance of her husband, producer/director Herbert Wilcox, was one of the most popular stars of the British screen in the 1930s and '40s, appearing in numerous light musicals and comedies as well as playing more demanding roles such as Queen Victoria, Florence Nightingale, and aviatrix Amy Johnson.
