MARIA CALLAS. Vintage 4x6 glossy Piccagliani portrait of Callas as Paolina, in Donizetti's Poliuto, inscribed in blue fountain pen and dated 1961. The image, itself, is in mint condition, but the diva, as usual, has signed across the bottom of the photo, with most of the writing difficult to see unless the photograph is angled into the light. Poliuto, which opened the 1960-61 season at La Scala, would turn out to be the final new role sung by Callas onstage.
