PAT GARRETT. Warrant, 2 pp., small 4to, October 23, 1882, for the arrest of one "Robinson (Christian name unknown)." Garrett, in his capacity as Sheriff of Lincoln County, New Mexico, attests, "I hereby certify that I served the within writ by arresting the body of the within named _ Robinson and delivering said body to the court. Pat F. Garrett/Sheriff." He additionally submits a bill for his services in the sum of $2.00. Fine condition, with a fold down the center, not touching any of Garrett's writing, and a notary seal in one corner. Lawman Pat Garrett gained notoriety in 1880 for the killing of his one-time friend, Billy the Kid. Unexpectedly, the killing made Garrett a reprobate, rather than a hero, and an outraged citizenry would vote him out of office in 1885.
